Woven geotextile, as the name suggests, is made from polypropylene strands weaved together to form a strong bond that can hold up under intense weight and weather. Woven geotextile fabric is often used for high strength applications like stabilization projects and separation jobs. However, this high strength woven geotextile fabric can also be used for filtration applications as it is still permeable. Woven geotextile is especially useful in landscaping applications and streetscaping applications. For streetscaping applications, heavy duty woven geotextile fabric is used as asphalt overlay or road underlayment for road construction to give added support. Woven geotextile fabric is available in rolls of the following: Woven 150, 200, and 315.
High strength woven geotextile is made from high strength polypropylene-based materials for durability and increased strength, making it ideal for use as a weed barrier in landscape applications. Different measurements and classifications are given to woven geotextile. These classifications include grab tensile strength and elongation, which describes the breaking load the fabric has. Other classifications include permittivity and permeability, which are a means of measuring the rate of water flow through landscape fabric. Tension strength of woven geotextile is measured through trapezoidal tear strength and CBR puncture resistance. Apparent opening size, or AOS, refers to the heavy duty woven geotextile fabric weave pattern, which affects how quickly the woven geotextile fabric can drain water from the base of a gravel installation.
