Coir Products

Coir blankets are sediment control mats that cover large open areas and slopes to prevent erosion. Most are used in conjunction with new vegetation, holding soil in place for two to six years to allow plants time to take root. All coir Erosion Control Matting uses an open weave design for seeding before or after placement. The right coir fabric blanket always depends on the slope and water flow of the working area.

Many municipalities used coir products during their construction projects to control erosion on site, leaving it in place for plantings and city beautification purposes. Coir blankets reduce costs, since they don't require removal when the project is finished.

One Clarion offers four types of coir blankets with differing densities. Choose the model best for your project based on the slope and flow of the landscape.

Coir Logs create natural borders along hills, shorelines, and other slopes prone to erosion. Coir logs can build up riverbanks and coastlines that have already lost soil, providing time to restore and stabilize the area with new vegetation and earth.

Parks and Recreation departments typically use coir logs for natural, ecofriendly restoration of creeks, streams, and other waterways in public parks and recreation areas. Coir erosion control logs generally last between two and five years, allowing more than enough time for long- term stabilization projects.

Standard Density Coir Logs

These are the industry standard for use in average conditions and at a price point that's budget friendly. 100% Biodegradable, the Standard Density Coir Logs are made of 100% coir encased in a 2"x2" coir netting. Coir Logs promote a natural solution to erosion control and slope stabilization, while creating an environment that supports vegetative growth for long term erosion control as the coir eventually biodegrades.

High Density Coir Logs

High density coir logs are recommended for use on rigorous terrain, areas exposed to high flow or harsh environmental conditions. Coir logs are also a reliable erosion control solution for streambanks and lakeshores, as well as for slope stabilization. Manufactured with 100% coir fibers encased in a rhombic coir netting, these high-density coir logs are known for solid performance in the most demanding situations and for the longest duration in the field.

Pre-Drilled Coir Logs

Amazingly convenient, the installation of these coir logs is a snap. Pre drilled coir logs use fewer stakes; simply secure them with stakes through the pre-drilled slots in the logs. The slots can also be used for planting seedlings. The slots are approximately 2 feet apart. Pre-Drilled Coir Logs are available in standard or high-density options and a variety of sizes.

Coir wattles are similar to erosion control logs in design and purpose. The main difference between the two is the density of the inner coir material. Wattles are less dense than their log counterparts, offering more flexibility and filtration options.

Wattles are often used during city construction projects for site perimeter control and drain protection. Construction projects might use them around sites to keep any contaminants contained and out of public areas. This saves in cleanup costs and prevents pollution fines from being levied against the city.

Coir Blocks

Our coir blocks are rectangular erosion control solutions well suited to shoreline and riverbank restoration. Blocks can be stacked in layers or walls to create solid rows of support along the problem areas. They are particularly effective in controlling erosion and promoting vegetation growth around environmentally sensitive areas, such as wetlands, streams, and local canals.

Coir Silt Checks

Silt checks use both coir blankets and wattle to create a filtration check dam. The wattle sits on the blanket with about a foot showing on either side. The extra filtration of the blanket helps contain sediment and silt during high water flows and assists in slowing the water velocity.
