Flood Barriers

One Clarion flood barriers are made with durable FIBC bulk bags, acting like large sandbags. These bags are filled with dirt and placed side-by-side or sewn together to build a strong temporary flood wall. Counties and municipalities can use multiple bulk bags to create a custom flood barrier system to protect their areas from flooding.

Bulk bags come in three different models with varying shapes and stitch designs:

• U-Panel - U-Panel flood bags are designed with three panels for strength and durability. One panel forms the bottom and two sides, while two additional panels complete the other sides. These large sandbags hold a square shape when filled, making them reliable for flood protection.
• 4-Panel - 4-panel FIBC flood bags are made with four separate pieces, creating a sturdy square shape. These bags hold their shape better than other models, providing reliable flood protection. However, the extra stitching needed for the panels can create weak points, so proper use and handling are essential for durability.
• Circular - Circular flood bags are made from a single tubular piece of fabric, with stitching only at the top and bottom. When filled, they form a square shape, though it’s less defined compared to other models. These bags are simple and effective for flood protection.

When using our FIBC bags for flood barriers, we suggest either the U-Panel or Circular models, as they have less stitching and are less prone to seam failure.

Permanent Flood Barriers – For a more permanent Flooding solution, such as a flood wall in a public park, our large sandbags can be filled with concrete. The bag allows the concrete to keep the proper shape while it sets, creating a uniform wall. In these conditions, the flood bags can be imprinted with county or city logos for aesthetic purposes.

Cofferdam – The Transportation Infrastructure department can use FIBC bulk bags to form a cofferdam during bridge construction or repair. Individual bags can be placed in custom layouts to fit the exact construction space needed. To hold back higher water levels, the bags can be stacked in a pyramid formation.

Gravel and Soil Transport – For leveling and filling purposes, bulk bags can also be utilized to transport soil and gravel to various sites throughout a city or county. For example, a Streetscaping project may need a couple tons of soil to create a grassy median. The filled bags can easily be transported by truck to the job site.
